Co-Eternal Life. Eternal life is the life which Jesus exhibited on the human level. And it is this same life, not simply a copy of it, which is made evident in our mortal flesh when we are born again. Eternal life is not a gift from God; eternal life is the gift of God. The energy and the power which was so very evident in Jesus will be exhibited in us by an act of the absolute sovereign grace of God, once we have made that complete and effective decision about sin.

 

"You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you . . ."(Act 1:8) - not power as a gift from the Holy Spirit; the power is the Holy Spirit, not something that He gives us. The life that was in Jesus becomes ours because of His Cross, once we make the decision to be identified with Him. If it is difficult to get right with God, it is because we refuse to make this moral decision about sin. But once we do decide, the full life of God comes in immediately. Jesus came to give us an endless supply of life - " . . . that you may be filled with all the fullness of God" (Ephesians 3:19). Eternal life has nothing to do with time. It is the life which Jesus lived when He was down here, and the only Source of life is the Lord Jesus Christ.

 

Even the weakest saint can experience the power of the deity of the Son of God, when he is willing to "let go." But any effort to "hang on" to the least bit least bit of our own power will only diminish the life of Jesus in us. We have to keep letting go, and slowly, but surely, the great full life of God will invade us, penetrating every part. Then Jesus will have complete and effective dominion in us, and people will take notice that we have been with Him.

함께 누리는 영원한 생명 : 영원한 생명은 예수 그리스도가 이 세상에서 우리에게 보여 주신 생명이다. 이 생명은 우리가 거듭날 때 우리의 유한한 육신 속에 뚜렷이 나타난다. 영원한 생명은 하나님에게서 받는 선물이 아니라 하나님 자신이다. 우리가 죄에 대해 도덕적 결단을 내리면 예수 그리스도의 삶의 뚜렷이 나타난 힘과 권세가 하나님의 절대 주권의 은혜를 입어 우리의 삶에도 뚜렷이 나타날 것이다.

 

" 오직 성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고"(사도행전 1장 8절). 이 권능은 성령이 주시는 선물이 아니라 성령 자체이다.

 

예수 안에 있던 생명은 우리가 주님과 일치하기로 결단하면 주님의 십자가를 근거로 우리의 것이 된다. 우리가 하나님과 화목하는 것이 어렵다면 이는 우리가 죄에 대해 확실한 결단을 내리지 않았기 때문이다. 그러나 결단하는 순간 하나님의 충만하신 생명이 우리 안에 들어오신다. 예수님께서는 우리에게 끝없는 생명의 공급을 위해 오셨다. "그래서 너희들이 하나님의 충만하심으로 충만케 되기를 원하노라" (옙 3:19). 영생은 시간과는 전혀 관계없는 것이며 예수님께서 이 세상에 오셨을 때 그분이 사셨던 그 생명이 영생입니다. 그러므로 영생의 유일한 근원은 오직 주 예수 그리스도이시다.

 

아무리 연약한 성도라도

그의 모든 것을 내려놓으면'

하나님의 아들의 거룩한 능력을 체험할 수 있다.

자신의 작은 능력이라도 주장하면 예수님의 생명을 가릴 것이다.

그러므로 계속 내려놓을 때 하나님의 충만하신 생명이 천천히, 그러나 확실하게 우리의 모든 삶의 영역에 임하게 될 것이다.

이에 사람들이 우리가 주님과 함께 한다는 사실을 알게 될 것이다.
