You also be ready . . .

A Christian worker's greatest need is a readiness to face Jesus Christ at any and every turn. This is not easy, no matter what our experience has been. This battle is not against sin, difficulties, or circumstances, but against being so absorbed in our service to Jesus Christ that we are not ready to face Jesus Himself at every turn.
The greatest need is not facing our beliefs or doctrines, or even facing the question of whether or not we are of any use to Him, but the need is to face Him.
Jesus rarely comes where we expect Him; He appears where we least expect Him, and always in the most illogical situation. The only way a servant can remain true to God is to be ready for the Lord's surprise visits. This readiness will not be brought about by service, but through intense spiritual reality, expecting Jesus Christ at every turn. This sense of expectation will give out life the attitude of childlike wonder He wants it to have. If we are going to be ready for Jesus Christ, we have to stop being religious. In other words, we must stop using religion as if it were some kind of a lofty lifestyle-we must be spiritually real.
If you are avoiding the call of the religious thinking of today's world, and instead are "looking unto Jesus" (Hebrews 12:2), setting your heart on what He wants, and thinking His thoughts, you will be considered impractical and a daydreamer.
But when He suddenly appears in the work of the heat of the day, you will be the only one who is ready.
You should trust no one,
and
even ignore the finest saint on earth
if he blocks your sight of Jesus Christ.
그리스도인이라면 언제든 어느 상황에서든 주님과 마주할 수 있는 준비가 반드시 되어 있어야 한다. 신앙의 연륜이 깊고 길다 해도 이 일은 결코 쉬운 일이 아니다.
우리가 싸워야 할 대상은 죄도 난관도 환경도 아니라 사역에 매몰되어 언제든지 아무 때나 예수 그리스도를 대면할 준비가 되어 있지 않은 것이다.
우리의 최대의 약점은 우리의 신앙이나 신조, 더 나아가 우리가 쓰임 받을 가치가 있느냐 없느냐에 대한 문제도 아니다.
오직 주님을 만날 수 있는 가일뿐이다.
예수님은 우리가 예상하는 때에 오시진 않는 경우가 많다. 주님은 거의 언제나 우리가 예상하지 못하거나, 논리적으로 연결 지을 수 없는 상황에서 오신다. 사역자가 하나님께 신실할 수 있는 유일한 길은 예고 없이 오시는 주님의 방문을 맞을 수 있도록 준비되어 있는 것이다.
문제가 되는 것은 우리의 봉사나 예배가 아니라 예수 그리스도를 아무 때고 맞을 수 있는 살아 움직이는 영적 실재이다. 그래야만 우리는 주님이 원하시는 어린아이의 경이로운 자세를 지닐 수 있다.
우리가 예수 그리스도를 만날 준비를 하려면,
교회 다니는 것을 교양으로 보는 습관적인 종교적 태도를 버리고 영적으로 살아야 한다.
당신이 종교를 유행으로 보는 세상의 풍조를 피해 주님께 시선을 모으고 주님이 원하시는 일에 마음을 집중하며 주님의 입장에서 생각하면, 사람들은 비현실적이고 망상에 사로잡힌 사람이라고 비웃을 수 있다. 하지만 주님께서 일상적인 번뇌와 생활의 열심 속에서 갑자기 나타나실 때, 준비된 자는 당신 하나뿐일 것이다.
아무도 믿지 말라.
만일 예수 그리스도를 바라보는 일에 방해가 된다면,
세상 땅을 밟은 위대한 성자라 할지라도 그를 무시하라.
