If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

Be determined to know more than others. If you yourself do not cut the lines that tie you to the dock, God will have to use a storm to sever them and to send you out to sea. Put everything in your life afloat upon God, going out to sea on the great swelling tide of His purpose, and your eyes will be opened. If you believe in Jesus, you are not to spend all your time in the calm waters just inside the harbor, full of joy, but always tied to the dock.

You have to get out past the harborinto the great depths of God,

and begin to know things for yourself -

 

begin to have spiritual discernment.

 

When you know that you shuld do something and you do it, immediately you know more. Examine where you become sluggish, where you began losing interest spiritually, and you will find that it goes back to a point where you did not do something you knew you should do. You did not do it because there seemed to be no immediate call to do it. But now you have no insight or discernment, and at a time of crisis you are spiritually distracted instead of spiritually self-controlled. It is a dangerous thing to refuse to continue learning and knowing more.

 

The counterfeit of obedience is a state of mind

in which you create your own opportunites to sacrifice yourself, and your zeal and enthusiasm are mistaken for discernment.

It is easier to sacrifice yurself than to fulfill your spiritual destiny, which is stated in Romans 12:1-2. It is much better to fulfill the purpose of God in your life by discerning His will than it is to perform great acts of self-sacrifice. "Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice . . ." (1 Samuel 15:22). Beware of paying attention or going back to what you once were, when God wants you to be something that you have never been. "If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know . . ."(John 7:17).

 

내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 종이 주인보다 크지 못하고 보냄을 받은 자가 보낸 자보다 크지 못하나니 너희가 이것을 알고 행하면 복이 있으리라

남보다 많이 깨닫기로 결심하자! 만약 당신을 얽매고 있는 것을 스스로 끊지 않으면 하나님께서 태풍을 사용하셔서 그것들을 끊고 바다로 보내실 것이다. 당신 삶의 모든 것들을 하나님께 띄워 보내고 거대한 하나님의 목적이라는 밀물을 타고 바다로 나가자!

그러면 당신의 눈이 열릴 것이다. 만약 당신이 믿음 안에 있다면 그저 그런 평범한 일상에 매여 있지 않을 것이다.

당신은 하나님의 깊은 바다로 나가서

자신에 대하여 알고 영적 분별력을 가져야 한다.

 

만약 당신이 해야 할 일을 알고 행하면 더 많은 것을 깨닫게 된다. 당신이 어디에서 영적으로 막혀 버렸는지 점검해야 한다. 그곳은 바로 당신이 무엇을 해야 한다는 것을 알면서도 당장 필요한 것 같지 않아 순종하지 않은 지점일 것이다. 그 결과로 영적 지각도 없어지고 분별력도 사라진 것이다. 이는 영적으로 자신을 충만케 해야 하는 위기의 때에 오히려 영적으로 집중하지 못했기 때문이다. 순종해야 하는 순간에 순종을 거부하는 것은 위험한 일이다.

 

순종의 위조품은 열심이다.

가짜는 당신 자신을 희생하려고 애쓰며

그것을 영적 분별로 착각하는 상태를 뜻한다.

 

자신을 희생하는 일은 로마서 12장 1-2절에 명시된 영적 목표를 이루는 일보다 쉽다. 자기희생으로 위대한 연출을 하는 것보다 하나님의 뜻을 바로 분별하여 삶 속에서 하나님의 목적을 이루는 것이 훨씬 중요하다. "사무엘이 이르되 여호와께서 번제와 다른 제사를 그의 목소리를 청종하는 것을 좋아하심 같이 좋아하시겠나이까 순종이 제사보다 낫고 듣는 것이 숫양의 기름보다 나으니"(사무엘상 15:22) 하나님이 당신에게 지금까지 경험한 적이 없는 무엇을 행하라고 하실 때, 과거를 돌아보는 일을 주의해야 한다. "사람이 하나님의 뜻을 행하려 하면 이 교훈이 하나님께로부터 왔는지 내가 스스로 말함인지 알리라"(요한복음 7:17)
