The time has come for judgment

to begin at the house of God

The Christian servant must never forget that salvation is God's idea, not man's; therefore, it has an unfathomable depth. Salvation is the great thought of God, not an experience. Experience is simply the door through which salvation comes into the conscious level of our life so that we are aware of what has taken place on a much deeper level. Never preach the experience - preach the great thought of God behind the experiece. When we preach, we are not simply proclaiming how people can be saved from hell and be made moral and pure;

we are conveying good news about God.

 

In the teachings of Jesus Christ the element of judgement is alwasy brought out - it is the sign of the love of God. Never sympathize with someone who finds it difficult to get to God; God is not to blame. It is not for us to figure out the reason for the difficulty, but only to present the truth of God so that the Spirit of God will reveal what is wrong. The greatest test of the quality of our preaching is whether or not it brings everyone to judgment. When the truth is preached, the Spirit of God of God brings each person face to face with God Himself.

 

If Jesus ever commanded us to do something that He was unable to equip us to accomplish, He would be a liar. And if we make our own inability a stumbling block or an excuse not to be obedient, it means that we are telling God that there is something which He has not yet taken into account. Every element of our own self-reliance must be put to death by the power of God. The moment we recognize our complete weakness and our dependence upon Him will be the very moment that the Spirit of God will exhibit His power.

하나님의 집에서 심판을 시작할 때가 되었다

베드로 전서 4:17

 

그리스도인이 절대 있어서는 안 되는 것은 구원은 하나님의 생각이라는 것이다. 따라서 사역자는 구원의 깊이가 무한하다는 사실을 잊지 말아야 한다. 구원은 하나님의 위대하신 생각이지 우리의 경험이 아니다. 구원받은 우리의 경험은 구속이 우리의 의식으로 들어오는 입구일 뿐이다. 사람의 경험을 설교하지 말고 그 뒤 경험 뒤에 있는 위대한 하나님의 생각을 선포하자. 우리의 선포는 사람이 어떻게 지옥에서 구원받아 도덕적이고 순결한 존재가 되는지가 아니다.

우리의 선포는 하나님의 복음을 전하는 것이다.

 

예수님의 가르침에는 심판에 관한 말씀이 항상 제시된다. 하나님 사랑의 표현이다. 하나님께 나오기를 어려워하는 사람들을 동정하면 안 된다. 그것은 하나님의 책임이 아니다. 우리가 할 일은 그들이 왜 어려워하는지 알아내는 것이 아니다. 오직 하나님의 진리를 알려주어 무엇이 잘못되었는지 성령이 밝혀 주시도록 해야 한다. 우리가 진리를 선포하면 성령은 복음을 듣는 사람들의 가슴속에서 역사하기 때문이다.

 

만약 예수님이 자신도 할 수 없는 일을 우리에게 명하셨다면 그분은 거짓말쟁이일 것이다. 우리가 우리의 능력을 장애물로 여기고 그것을 순종할 수 없는 구실로 삼는 것은, 미처 고려하지 못한 것이 있다고 하나님께 따지는 것과 다름없다. 자기 의존의 모든 요소를 하나님의 권능으로 완전히 제거하자. 우리는 연약하여 하나님을 의지할 수밖에 없다는 사실을 깨닫는 순간, 성령은 그분의 능력을 우리에게 보여준다.
